This Week's Featured GuestRidgefield Farm of Brasstown, North Carolina

 
This week our show heads east to visit a remarkably scenic operation. Ridgefield Farm was founded in 1954 and is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of southwestern North Carolina, next to Georgia and 17 miles from Tennessee. The farm consists of about 1,000 acres with 165 head of registered Braunvieh cows and 12 herd sires that are among the best in the breed. The farm also has 60 registered Angus and 50 hybrid Braunvieh-Angus cows as well. It is owned by Steve Whitmire.

This Week's Young American Rancher
Youth from across Texas and the southwest come to the famous Southwestern Exposition at Fort Worth with a lot of hope and hard work that's usually wearing a halter and lead rope. Austin Breeding of Miami, Texas returned to the Fort Worth Stock Show and, this year, turned the tables on the competition from a year ago by winning 6th place and making the sale.

2009 Fort Worth Calf Scramble Scholarship Recipient

Superior Livestock's 2009 Fort Worth Calf Scramble Sponsorship recipient, Kelly Strahan has been awarded a $2,000 scholarship provided by the Southwestern Exposition and Livestock Show. She was selected from 240 participants based on monthly reports and other criteria required in the Calf Scramble program. Superior Livestock would like to Congratulate Kelly on her accomplishment!
